Window Gazing

"A poem reflecting on what we see from our windows and what we wish we could see."

Poetics: Window Gazing

Through my window, I see the world,
A picture of life unfurled,
The hustle and bustle of the street,
A never-ending, restless beat.

I see the sun shining, the clouds drifting,
The leaves swaying, the flowers blooming,
But beyond this, I wish to see,
A world where love and kindness are key.

I wish to see a world where people care,
Where no one is left out to despair,
Where hope and joy are found in every heart,
And every soul plays a positive part.

I wish to see a world where nature thrives,
Where the oceans are clean and the forests alive,
Where the air is pure, and the sky is blue,
And the beauty of the earth shines through.

Perhaps it's not the view that needs to change,
But rather the lens through which I arrange,
My thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams,
To find the beauty in life's extremes.

So through my window, I'll keep looking out,
And maybe one day, without a doubt,
I'll see the world in a brand new light,
A vision that fills me with delight.

  6. Your poem has a great rhythm to it, like the sound of traffic, ‘The hustle and bustle of the street, / A never-ending, restless beat’, and I love the transition of what you see from your window to what you wish to see, something we all wish for, and finally to the philosophical lines:
‘Perhaps it's not the view that needs to change,
But rather the lens through which I arrange,
My thoughts and feelings, hopes and dreams’.
